Course Overview
A forward-looking workshop exploring AI tools (including ChatGPT and specialized agents like Deep Research) to enhance research workflows—from literature discovery to content drafting and ethical usage.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify core AI tools for research support: ChatGPT, Deep Research, Elicit, Connected Papers, Consensus, Iris.ai, Scite, etc.
- Use AI to streamline literature reviews, summarizations, and semantic searches
- Employ AI for generating drafts, structured outlines, abstracts, and idea synthesis
- Navigate and apply AI tools like Deep Research to autonomously gather and cite research insights
- Understand the vital role of effective prompt engineering in maximizing AI output quality
- Assess the limitations of AI tools—lack of access to peer-reviewed sources, hallucination risks, bias, and data privacy concerns
- Practice ethical AI use, including transparency of AI-assisted content in academic work
- Do Thematic Analysis and data visualisations
- Prepare Google form for survey and create MCQ questions, collect feedback etc.
- Leverage AI tools to enhance research tasks—literature mapping, drafting, synthesis, referencing, and ideation—while maintaining academic rigor and creative thinking
